A ship is always safe at the shore — but that is not what it is built for.
No one wants to live a basic life, but it can be hard to figure out how to step out of your comfort zone. We’re constantly on a search for happiness and we all want to lead an exciting and fulfilling life, but to make these dreams a reality we have to be proactive and search for new experiences and new opportunities.
It’s scary to put ourselves out there.
But without taking chances or analyzing every little detail that could possibly go wrong, we most likely won’t achieve the life we’re after.
What’s holding you back is this tiny thing called the known. This is called your comfort zone. A comfort zone is where we are when we feel safe, at ease, and stress-free. Sounds pretty nice and cozy, right?
So, why would any one ever want to step outside of it? Well, nothing groundbreaking ever really happens in your comfort zone.
For a select few, that may be fine. But I know that most people are after adventure, a happily ever after, and experiences they will be able to look back on and say, “I can’t believe I did that, but I’m so glad I did.”
So, it’s about time we leave that zone of protection and familiarity.
Leaving your comfort zone is so rewarding. What are some of the things we chase after when we decide to be brave and leave our comfort zone? Some chase after a promotion or a better job. A few leave their job to start at something new that will make them happier than they’ve ever been.
Some people will pack up their belongings, wave goodbye, and move to another state or country. Others might finally talk to the person they’ve been eyeing for a while now or do something radical — jump out of a plane (attached to a parachute of course).
And what are the outcomes of these? Great stories to tell, a better life, a happier individual.
So with all these great possibilities, why do choose to not take a step outside of what they’re comfortable with?
Well, because they can fail. But the important thing about failure is it’s only a possibility, not a guaranteed outcome. And failure is not the final outcome, it’s a chance to start again and learn.
So it’s been decided, you’re going to take a leap and do something you’re not comfortable with. Still not too sure about that? Use these motivational famous quotes about leaving your comfort zone behind to inspire you to do it yourself.
