Back when Vine was still a thing (R.I.P.), you probably saw a little snap of a woman walking down a hallway letting us know that she can wear whatever she wants to cause “A h– never gets cold.” A few years later that woman is now a household name, and you can hear Cardi B’s songs on almost every radio station.
Cardi B was a stripper in New York and exploded to social media fame. Her lack of a filter became super popular and got her tons of followers on Instagram. Between making viral Vines and hilarious Insta posts, her fame was rising quickly.
In 2015 she earned herself a spot on the VH1 reality show Love and Hip Hop: New York. As a regular cast member, she was known for not only being hilarious but also having a no-nonsense attitude. Her laugh and voice became iconic and instantly recognizable.
In 2017 she signed her first major record deal with Atlantic Records after releasing two mix tapes. Her debut single Bodak Yellow made history by hitting number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, making her the second female rapper to do so with a solo output, following in Lauryn Hill’s footsteps.
Her album Invasion of Privacy shot her even further into fame. With an engagement to rapper Offset, a member of Migos, and a baby on the way, Cardi’s career isn’t going to stop anytime soon.
