10 Bible Verses About Suicide That Prove You’re Not Alone

bible suicide scripture quote - 10 Bible Verses About Suicide That Prove You're Not Alone

Don’t give up hope. You’re here for a reason.

Suicide awareness has grown since 13 Reasons Why.

Then when Anthony Boudain and Kate Spade claimed their own lives in 2018, the topic became more openly discussed on social media to promote awareness and to show support for individuals suffering from depression.

The numbers prove that more people feel hopeless than ever before.

World stress factors, social media, and an inability to escape life due to the world’s interconnection can make it seem like a 21st-century problem.

But, did you know that the Bible also talks about suicide, starting from the beginning of the Bible via the Book of Genesis?

The first couple in the Bible gave birth to two brothers: Cain and Abel.

Able was murdered out of jealousy by his brother. As a result, Cain was sent out from his family and his biggest fear was that others would try to do to him what he had done to his brother.

This is the first conversation where desperate fear could indicate that a person struggled with thoughts of suicide.

Instead, God told Cain that he would mark him in such a way that anyone who harmed him would also be harmed as well.

Instead of judging Cain for his emotional angst, he was giving support, a lifeline, to encourage him to face another day.

There are other stories in the Bible about suicidal thoughts and attempts. King David contemplated suicide when his son was found dead.

In the New Testament, Judas hung himself out of guilt for leading Christ to his captors for money.

King Saul killed himself after a long period of mental illness. King David’s advisor, Ahithophel, also claimed his own life.

When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb. Samuel 17:23, (WEB)

Samson’s death could be ruled a suicide or a martyr act.

There are many places where scriptures show how people felt sad and hopeless.

As a result, they gave in to their overwhelming sorrow and took their own life.

There are many factors that come into a person’s decision on why they should do this, but let’s take a look at one of them, lack of meaning.

In the …

20 Comforting Quotes About Loss To Help You Cope With The Death Of A Loved One

< ?xml encoding="utf8mb4" ?>

The sting of death is unavoidable.

Funerals are the worst. They’re one of the saddest days in your life. Someone you loved or care about has died, and as with death there’s nothing you can do about it. Everyone around you and yourself are crying and you just want it to be over because no one really wants to be sad, especially like this.

Sorry if I just depressed you, but unfortunately there’s not really a good way to start talking about death and funerals. But just because it starts out sad doesn’t mean it has to end that way.

While it’s true that funerals do mark a person’s death, they can also be considered a celebration of life. You spend time with others reminiscing about the things that person said or did that made an impact on your life.

But even if you try to put a positive spin on things, it can become increasingly difficult when you have multiple funerals in a row. The only thing worse than one funeral is two, especially when they’re in a row. It can definitely take a toll, and no matter how positive you try to be, it starts to get to you. That feeling of loss and depression.

So how do you get through that? To be honest, there’s not really a clear-cut way. Everyone has a different way of coping with the death of a loved one. The best advice is to just make sure you’re coping in a healthy manner. Talk to others about how you feel, remember the good times and most of all remember how much they meant to you.

But maybe you still feel confused and left with a wondering of what to do or how to cope and move on with your life. If that’s the case, then perhaps these comforting quotes about death and loss can offer you the words you need to hear to get you through the hardest parts of your life.

1. Well first, you want to show common courtesy.

“Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours.” –Yogi Berra

2. You can find comfort in a funeral.

“Some people hate funerals. I find them comforting. They hit the pause button on life and remind us that it has an end. Every eulogy reminds me to deepen my dash, that place on the tombstone between our birth

Fire and Ice

< ?xml encoding="utf8mb4" ?>

By AW

Never shall I die in prison as my dad
died in 1999
Fire and wind of the sky
Fire and ice of my soul
Stirring within my heart the
love of life needed to grasp heaven within
A tale of sorrow, abandonment, and enslavement
Survival of the fittest
The sole survivor, souls survive
Though I may die a thousand times
In a thousand different little ways
Never shall I die in prison as my dad
died in 1999

I fly,
fire and wind
I sing,
fire and ice
Never shall I die in anybody’s cage.

“I will not be counted among the broken men.”  - George Jackson

Her Name Is Streets

< ?xml encoding="utf8mb4" ?>

By AG

Why the old cry when the young die?
And when the young die
A newborn opens their eyes for the first time

Crime is programmed
To the mind of the young boy who is searching for love and shelter
Streets, she’s always the quickest helper

What you need money, drugs, violence?
Stop being silent
I love you, young boy

Streets whispers, “I’ve made people rich
I’ve made people poor
I’m that love you can’t ignore

Also I have 3 best friends named
Prison, Overdose, and Death
I’m going to be here for you when no one’s left

I’m Streets, the woman who softly caresses your chest
I grow no flowers, I’m concrete
A hard downfall for whoever falls on me
In case you don’t know my name is Streets.”…

25 Life Quotes To Help You Cope & Heal When Someone Passes Away Unexpectedly

< ?xml encoding="utf8mb4" ?>

Life can throw some mean curveballs.

While we come to understand from an early age that death is just a part of life, it doesn’t make losing a loved one any less painful. Death is hard. It is even harder when it comes unexpectedly.

When we receive the news, we pray that it is just a bad dream we can wake up from. There are often no words to describe the amount of pain we’re in, and there are not enough hugs in the world to comfort us.

It is normal during this time for people to wish for just one more moment with their loved one. One more moment to tell them how much they love and appreciate them before they are gone. But we must come to accept that this is not possible.

We must instead focus on the bright side of things. We must stop and think about how much we gained just by knowing and having loved that person.

It is too easy to let this pain consume us and stop us from moving forward and focusing on our future.

We cannot spend time focusing on the things we can’t control. We cannot control death.

All we can do is make sure that the person’s memories live on through us and that we do what we can to make them proud. Part of this requires us to accept our life for what it is, both the good times and the bad.

The bad times help shape who we are, even if we can’t appreciate it in the moment.

When you find yourself struggling to breathe…when you feel like all hope is lost…when you think that it will never get any better, remember that this, too, shall pass. You won’t always feel this sad.

Below are 25 life quotes to help you cope with losing someone you love without warning.

1. Accept that you cannot control grief.

“Grief is like the ocean; it comes in waves, ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.” — Vicki Harrison

2. They will always be with you.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day…unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.” — Unknown

3. Find comfort knowing that in the end you will be reunited.

“And I will

30 Uplifting Quotes To Comfort Someone Who Is Grieving

Some good words can go a long way.

In light of what has happened throughout the past few years, our country has experienced plenty of grieving. There have been so many terror attacks, mass shootings, and random acts of violence throughout the entire world.

Due to all of the terrible violence, many people are grieving the loss of a loved one or simply the seeming loss of humanity.

Sometimes knowing what to say or do for a person who is grieving is very difficult and doesn’t come naturally to a lot of people. You may be worried about saying the wrong thing or saying something that doesn’t help. It can be hard to help someone who is grieving, even when you are grieving too.

1. Understanding the process.

“It’s the process of grieving that’s important and necessary, not the understanding of it.” — Unknown

2. Remembering your loved one is in a happy place.

“I made it home I just wanted to let you know that I made it home. Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh, so new. I wish that you could close your eyes so you could see it too. Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand. God is taking care of me…I’m in the shelter of his hands. Here there is no sadness, and no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying, and I’ll never hurt again. Here it is peaceful when all the angels sing. I really have to go for now… I’ve just got to try my wings. PS… I’ll be the first face you see when you get here!” — Unknown

3. Do what is best for you.

“No rule book. No time frame. No judgment. Grief is as individual as a fingerprint. Do what is right for your soul.” — 1fw

4. Sometimes checking in is all someone needs.

“Just checking on you and praying God takes extra special care of you today!” — Hebrews 4:16

5. Having a shoulder to cry on.

“There is nothing I can say to take away your hurt but you have my shoulder to cry on and my loving hugs. Know that I will be here for you when you need me.” — Unknown

6. Be by their side.

“Maybe I can’t stop the downpour, but I will always join you for a walk in the rain.” —
