15 Heartbreaking Lana Del Rey Lyrics About The One Who Got Away

Lana knows all about not being able to move on.

Everyone has that one person they just can’t seem to get over. Maybe you have accepted that you can’t have a relationship with this person, but the feelings are still there — or maybe you keep going back to them hoping things might improve.

There’s something about going through a continuous cycle of heartache with the same person and feeling unable to get over someone that just makes you feel so powerless and out of control.

It’s almost as if this person has you under their spell and there’s no way to break it.

Often times, the one who got away is not always the best to you, yet you choose to look past it because you are so blinded by love.

For me, I’ve given guys multiple chances because I felt so strongly about them and could see their potential, but there were so many character flaws that I waited for them to fix, only to find them incapable of doing so. Although it was hard, I had to do what was best for me and let these people go. You would think this would be easy to do, especially if they are heavily flawed, but it’s hard to let someone go who you still care about deeply.

If you are anything like me when it comes to heartbreak and lost love, you likely take every sad love song you hear and imagine that song as if it were written about your life. You find common ground between the protagonists in these songs and wonder how a songwriter can perfectly describe exactly how you are feeling, down to the smallest detail. For me, that songwriter is Lana Del Rey.

Known for her unique Hollywood sad-core style music, her ability to write song lyrics in a way that captures my exact feelings, when I am unable to fully articulate them myself, is exactly what I need when I’m feeling down. She’s able to put my feelings into a much more beautifully poetic piece than I ever could. Lana Del Rey’s music is especially perfect for me when I get upset over a guy and just want to drown in my sorrows or get hit in the feelings.

Although heartbreak sucks, there is some solace in knowing that you are not alone. If even Lana Del Rey has gone through things …

20 Powerful Quotes From Celebrities About Body Shaming, Self Image & Learning To Love Your Body — As Is

“You’re amazing, just the way you are.” -Bruno Mars

Body-shaming is a horrible reality that everyone faces over and over again in their lives. But what exactly is body-shaming?

According to Healthline, body-shaming “involves criticizing and harassing overweight people about their weight or eating habits to make them feel ashamed of themselves,” with the intent to “motivate people to eat less, exercise more, and lose weight.”

Does this criticism affect a person’s self-esteem? Well, according to Kris Gunnars, a writer for Healthline agrees that fat-shaming makes things worse.

He states, “Some believe that making overweight people feel ashamed of their weight or eating habits may motivate them to get healthier. However, scientific evidence confirms that nothing could be further from the truth.”

It’s so true. People take the wrong approach in trying to approach the topic of your weight. Family members, doctors, and complete strangers make it the hardest and they can cut you down in a split second.

Body-shaming can cause a decrease in motivation, depression, eating disorders, reduced self-esteem, stress, weight gain, mental problems, increased risk of suicide, increased cortisol (a stress hormone) levels, and it can increase your risk for certain chronic diseases.

As someone who is overweight, there is not a day that goes by that I am not reminded that I need to stop eating this, or I need to exercise, or I need to lose weight, or I need to make myself look pretty. It really does take a toll on my mental health and self-esteem. Some days I don’t want to eat because all these negative thoughts are swirling around and then there are times I feel guilty for eating something.

It’s important for me to remember that I have to eat, but body-shaming from others and myself since I was born has made me so self-conscious that it can make just the simple matter of eating a chore and something that I feel so bad about.

But, lately, I have realized that I have to love myself for who I am and what I look like. I shouldn’t be ashamed of who I am or let negativity manifest.

If you are going through these same things, remember you are not alone.

Everyone goes through these body-shaming situations, even celebrities, but what can make you stand out is if you don’t let what other people say or the devil sitting on your shoulder …

15 Elton John Quotes About Music & Some Of His Most Famous Song Lyrics About Love

The Rocket Man’s best sayings.

The flashy and flamboyant Elton John is one of the most successful solo artists to grace the Earth. His mass success saw him sell over 300 million records, produce more than fifty Top 40 hits, and have 27 top 10 singles, including nine number one songs. He collaborated with lyricist Bernie Taupin to create songs that blended styles of rock and pop.

Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in March of 1947, Elton grew up in a semi-conservative household. His parents’ affinity for music proved to be a good environment for developing his talent. At age three, Elton had taught himself how to play the piano, his instrument of choice.

John’s ascension in music came in the early 70s. Number one songs became a regularity for the singer/songwriter. His live shows garnered attention as he would wear lavish, over-the-top outfits and his iconic glasses. Of these outfits, he said “I wasn’t a sex symbol like Bowie, Marc Bolan or Freddie Mercury, so I dressed more on the humorous side, because if I was going to be stuck at the piano for two hours, I was going to make people look at me.”

Taking a break from music later that decade saw Elton announce that he was bisexual. This was not well received at the time, and the singer was taunted for his sexuality. He later came out as gay, and became an icon for the LGBTQ community.

The 80s and 90s saw Elton become an advocate for AIDS awareness. An issue which hit close to him, as he acknowledged he could have contracted the disease and lost friends to it.

Elton John’s accolades and awards are seemingly endless. He has won multiple Grammy and Brit awards along with a Tony and an Academy award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. Four years later, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

An astounding career for an astounding man. Elton John and lyricist collaborated to make some iconic songs. Here are some of the best Elton John quotes and song lyrics from some of his most famously known music:

1. Music heals.

Music has healing power. It has the ability to take people out of themselves for a few hours.” — Elton John

2. Feeling pain.

20 Funny Quotes & Famous Catchphrases From The Best, Most Nostalgic Sitcoms Of All Time

One-liners that make us laugh every time we re-watch our favorite TV programs.

Television is a big part of society. Our parents, our parent’s parents, and for some of us our parent’s parent’s parents, have tuned in to watch the news, games, shows, dramas and my personal favorite, the comedy.

Television comedies take many forms. There is sketch comedy, like Saturday Night Live or The Carrol Burnett Show, where they think of funny ideas and play them in vignettes, where there is no through story line from episode to episode, season to season.

There is also the comedy-drama or “dramedy” as it is sometimes nicknamed. The dramedy follows a format more like things are in real life. The story is driving to a dramatic finish, but sometimes funny things will happen as they do in day to day life. Think one of the most famous of these… F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

But my personal favorite is the sitcom. Everyone loves a good sitcom. Sitcom (short for situational comedy, if you didn’t already know), are shows where first they develop the characters and their relationships, and those characters get themselves in and out of zany predicaments week in and week out. Sometimes its centered around a family, or a group of friends, or a workplace. Sometimes its centered around a place that strangers come to and find commonality and understanding.

From I Love Lucy, all the way to The Big Bang Theory and beyond, sitcoms have had us laughing for years. Here are some of the greatest funny quotes and most famous catchphrases from some of the best sitcoms of all time.

12 Powerful Quotes From Marianne Williamson At The Democratic Debate

She’s single-handedly bringing “yada yada yada” back.

As we continue along the 2020 presidential election trail, democratic candidates including Tim Ryan,  Joe Biden and John Delaney are fighting tirelessly to remain in the eyes of the media and the minds of the American people.

With 25 democrats campaigning to receive the party nomination, it is easy to get lost in the crowd as a potential stand out. Career politicians like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren usually take the prize of generating the most internet traffic and social media buzz after a big event, like the Dem Debates.

But last night, an underdog shined from the shadows: Marianne Williamson.

Marianne Williamson is a New York Times bestselling American author and lecturer. She also has a long list of effort in activism fighting for HIV/AIDS, women’s rights, peace-building, and poverty alleviation advocacy. She’s appeared on TV shows like The Oprah Winfrey Show and Good Morning America to speak about her writing and her work.

Williamson’s political career began in 2014 when she unsuccessfully ran for a House seat for California’s 33rd congressional district. With several respected politicians endorsements, she campaigned for accessible education and free college, climate change, universal healthcare, peacebuilding, and women’s and LGBTQ rights. She finished fourth in the race, falling to Ted Lieu who still serves in this seat.

Williamson stood out as a democrat to watch after the NBC-hosted debate in June. She made considerably bold statements surrounding healthcare, Donald Trump, and immigration. She quickly gained a social media following with Reddit and Twitter users naming her “The Orb Queen.” And she has only become more popular for her eccentric way of speaking since.

Last night, CNN hosted the debate in Detroit, Michigan. By the night’s end, Marianne Willaimson became the most googled candidate in 49 out of 50 states. Steve Bullock took the title in his home state of Montana. The buzz surrounding Williamson’s candidacy is hot.

If you missed the debate last night, we have got you covered! Look below for a recap of the most powerful Marianne Williamson quotes about her campaign, Donald Trump and fighting the good tight — here’s what she said to the American people on the debate stage:

1. She opened with a call to action as her campaign platform.

35 Best Quotes To Celebrate Harry Potter And J.K. Rowling’s Birthdays

Happy birthday Harry Potter & J.K. Rowling!

Harry Potter is probably one of the most influential books in the 21st century. It not only lead to movies that created stars like Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, but also created many merchandises and even a section of a theme park.

Created and written by author J.K. Rowling, the book series based on the fictional character Harry Potter is an adventure about magic, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the connection and loyalty of friendship along the way.

The Harry Potter franchise is so popular, they have sold more than 500 million books worldwide, in 80 languages, but one of the most well-known facts about the series is that Harry Potter’s birthday just so happens to fall on July 31st — the same day as real-life author J.K. Rowling’s birthday, who is turning 54 this year!

J.K. Rowling, who has an estimated net worth of just under $1 billion as of May 2019, hasn’t always had it easy. Sadly, her mother, Anne, died from multiple sclerosis in 1990 (before Harry Potter was published) after a long 10-year battle with the disease. According to an article written by Business Insider, “The loss of her own mother would eventually lead Rowling to make Harry Potter suffer the death of his parents” in the series. An inspiration, J.K. Rowling was able to transform the pain from her life into one of the biggest positives.

Rowling never forgot where she came from and has donated millions of dollars to charities. She even established her own children’s foundation, Lumos, in 2005. According to the website “Lumos’ mission is to end the use of orphanages and institutions for vulnerable children around the world by 2050.”

In honor of the J.K. Rowling’s birthday and Harry Potter’s birthday on July 31st, let’s take a look at some of the most memorable J.K. Rowling quotes and Harry Potter memes:

“As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.”J.K. Rowling

2. Let kids dream

“I don’t think there’s any harm at all in allowing a kid to fantasize. In fact, I think to stop people from fantasizing is a very destructive thing indeed.”J.K. Rowling

14 Of The Best Quotes About Love From Democratic Presidential Candidate Marianne Williamson

Let love in.

Who is Marianne Williamson and why should we take to heart her best love quotes?

The morning after the democratic debates, I found myself searching online to find out more about Marianne Williamson and what she has to say and has said about love in the life of her career.

I know of her from years ago as an author and speaker. I even saw her speaking in person at a Louise Hay conference about five years ago when I was working on my book, Empower Yourself by Loving Your Body.

I loved everything she had to say. She is of small stature but packs a punch. And the best part is that punch is fueled by love. She’s a good role model. She hasn’t lived the typical life from what I can tell. And she’s been in service to helping people connect to love.

Nonetheless, she is a strong woman. She’s strong…yet soft. She’s intelligent but knows the wisdom of her body and power of emotions. She’s connected to both her masculine and feminine energy.

We need more women like her and I’m excited to see more of what comes forth as the candidacy progresses.

Marianne Williamson is a spokesperson for love.

And to get more familiar with her, I want to share some of her quotes. She’s not new on the map when it comes to love and spirituality. She’s been a spokesperson for that for a long time having written over 12 or more books on these subjects.

Enjoy these quotes about love and let them touch you in a way that opens your heart. Williamson’s message is basically that our country doesn’t need another policy to fight over, our country needs love. And I won’t argue with that.

So, get comfortable. Take a deep breath. And relax.

Take a few moments to read these quotes and absorb the wisdom they contain. Let them wash over you like a spiritual bath to renew you and inspire you.

You play an important role in making this a better world. All you have to do is your part of opening yourself up to love.

Don’t underestimate the power of love you have to offer yourself and others, especially those you are having challenges with or those you judge.

With that said, here are 14 love quotes from Marianne Williamson that we should all take to heart.

17 Powerful Quotes About The Presidential Election That Remind You To Stay Informed And Go Vote

Temperatures aren’t the only things heating up this summer.

The 2020 presidential election campaign trail has kicked off and delivered a monsoon of political news coverage and pundit opinions to the public. Naturally, an over saturation of the breaking news coverage can cause us to start to drown in the information that supposed to keep us afloat and informed.

Following every detail of election coverage can be exhausting, and honestly, we are all far to busy managing work, family, and love to really be bothered with the news. But when it comes to the presidential election, we could all benefit from taking a breather and tuning in every so often.

This list of quotes is like a snapshot of the current political scene. Candidates are starting to make bold statements about policy and justice. They are choosing main platform issues and visiting communities across the nation.

The democratic side of the election is bountiful with candidates. With options in the double digits, the first democratic debate had to be held in two parts due to the volume of expected responses. With the incumbent candidate making a second term campaign, the Republican side of the race is practically decided. (There is one other contender to the Republican primary election, Bill Weld, but it is like that he will drop out of the race before the election comes.)

As we move into the early months of 2020, many more concrete motions will eventually deliver us our president.

One of the easiest ways to stay in the loop with the campaign trail is by reading quotes from the presidential candidates. This allows you to hear what they believe the country needs to focus on and decide if you agree or not. Of course, reading and watching news stories is also a huge addition to our understanding of what is happening in and around Washington. But looking out for bare quotes can help you find your candidate to support without the opinions of others clouding your thought process.

Make sure to keep checking in as the election draws nearer! And go out and vote!

21 Of Toni Morrison’s Most Powerful Quotes About Life, Love, Freedom & Responsibility To One Another

She was, indeed, beloved.

No one can prepare you for the death of a hero, and that’s what Toni Morrison was — a hero of the greatest order.

Today, the world lost the woman born as Chloe Ardelia Wofford on February 18, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio to Ella Ramah (Willis) and George Wofford, who passed away at the age of 88.

The American novelist, essayist, editor, teacher and professor emeritus at Princeton University, became a Catholic at the age of 12, taking “the baptismal name Anthony (after Saint Anthony), which led to her nickname, Toni.”

After earning a B.A. in English at Howard University in 1953 and a Master of Arts from Cornell University in 1955, she became a professor, marrying Jamaican architect Howard Morrison in 1958. The couple had two sons, Harold and Slade, and divorced in 1964.

Morrison went on to create a legacy, publishing some of the most highly acclaimed novels of all time, including Beloved, Sula, The Bluest Eye, Tar Baby, Song of Solomon and Jazz.

Her numerous awards include the Pulitzer Prize and the American Book Award for Beloved, later adapted into a film of the same name with Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover. And in 1993, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

“If there is a unifying thread running through Ms. Morrison’s writing, it is perhaps nowhere more vivid than in ‘Song of Solomon.’ At novel’s end, after his odyssey through his ancestral past, Milkman has attained the knowledge that lets him situate himself within his family, the larger community and black America.

And with that, on the book’s final page, he leaps into the air, taking symbolic flight over a world in which he has found his place at last.”

To honor her memory, here are 21 of the best, most inspirational quotes from author and Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison on life, love, freedom and strength.

1. “Sweet, crazy conversations full of half sentences, daydreams and misunderstandings more thrilling than understanding could ever be.”

2. “I tell my students, ‘When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else. This is not just a grab-bag candy game.”

Margs for everyone!

Buckle up for what is guaranteed to be a day you won’t want to forget. At least not until you finally sober up, that is. National Tequila Day is on July 24 and is bound to be an unforgettable holiday for margarita lovers.

Margaritas, known for their famous salted rims, lime slices and the most important ingredient of all — tequila, have forever found a special place in our hearts. Everyone can find joy in consuming a margarita that is prepared to their liking, whether your choice marg is frozen or on the rocks, strawberry or pomegranate.

Todd McCalla had the right idea when he decided to found National Margarita day, which is celebrated annually on February 22, as a way to share his love of tequila. Continue to spread the love by going out and spending time with friends as you reminisce over some of your greatest moments and remember why you consider margaritas to be an important part of your friend group.

Restaurants all over will have great deals for you and your friends to enjoy on this special day. There really is no excuse for you not to have a good time being bold, making bad decisions, and enjoying all the other things that come along with drinking tequila.
