One of the most critically acclaimed actors of all time.

Before he was one of the highest paid actors of all time, appearing in movies such as Jungle Fever and Do the Right Thing, Star Wars and The Avengers, Samuel L. Jackson was born in Washington D.C. in 1948, and spent the majority of his childhood raised by his grandmother in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He idolized film-making and movies since he was a child, going to the movie theater near where he lived quite often.

Due to being bullied so much in school, after almost a year of not speaking at all, he developed debilitating stutter, which still has an effect on his speech to this day. Interestingly, during an interview with Howard Stern, Jackson explained that his famous use of curse words actually help him control his speech impediment.

Early in his career, Jackson moved to New York to pursue his career in acting (after a 2 year stint of social working in Los Angeles right out of college), and earned several off-Broadway gigs before finally reaching his “break out” role in Pulp Fiction in 1994, directed by  Quentin Tarantino.

Let’s take a look back at some of the most legendary Samuel L. Jackson quotes and some of his most famous movie lines throughout his long and glorious career.

It’s been 70 years for the Hollywood staple.

In 1949 in the city of Summit, New Jersey, a legend was born. Originally named Mary Louise Streep (and eventually going by Meryl), she’s gone on to star in numerous movie hits and become a household name. Her birthday was just a few weeks ago — Meryl Streep turned 70 years old.

Beginning with voice lessons at age 12, Streep went on through high school and college with the intent of being on stage. At first she leaned more toward opera, but near the end of her collegiate tenure at Vassar College she took more of an interest in acting. After graduating, Streep enrolled in the Yale School of Drama.

After all that schooling, Streep debuted on Broadway when she was 26 in a play called Trelawny of the ‘Wells.’ Two years later she found herself in film in the movie Julia (1977). But it wasn’t until one year after that that Streep began to become recognized, earning an Oscar nomination for her role in the film The Deer Hunter (1978).

With her new-found success, Streep went on to star in many signature films, including Sophie’s Choice (1985; for which she won an Academy Award), The Bridges of Madison County (1995), The Devil Wears Prada (2006) and Mamma Mia! (2008).

Throughout her acting career, Streep has built up a tremendous list of starring roles, awards and nominations, including a record 23 Academy Award nominations. Along with those she was also given a Golden Globe (specifically the Cecil B. DeMille) for lifetime achievement.

Aside from her acting career, Streep has been married to sculptor Don Gummer for nearly 41 years. She also has four children, each of which has gone on to make a name for themselves in the entertainment industry.

50 Most Iconic Chick Flick Quotes That Will Make You Laugh, Cry — And Make You Want To Watch All These Movies All Over Again

< ?xml encoding="utf8mb4" ?>

These quotes are SO fetch!

Chick flicks: they’re a guilty pleasure! We can all admit they’re not cinematic masterpieces, but there’s something so fun and lighthearted about a chick flick that makes us want more. Movie studios continue to crank out these movies on Netflix, Hulu and the like because they cater to a huge audience — mainly women. If you’re lucky, you have a special guy in your life who’s willing to sit through one of these movies.

I’ve never seen a chick flick that made me think hard or brought on a deep conversation like some movies do after you watch them, but that’s the beauty of them. They’re easy to watch and they somehow make me feel good.

The early 2000’s was a time when chick flicks peaked in popularity. I mean all the classics we think of today came out at that time! “Mean,” “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “13 Going on 30,” “Legally Blonde,” the list goes on and on.

This past weekend, I watched a lot of chick flicks and romantic comedies and realized they all have the same feel. It’s almost like each movie uses the same formula that works every time. The movies even have similar music! Overall, when I feel like watching a happy, feel-good movie, I always turn to a good chick flick.

If you love chick flicks and romantic comedies as much as I do, then you’ll love these 50 quotes from your favorite movies! You and your friends probably still quote them today.

1. When you meet somone who’s just like you.

“You and I are such similar creatures, Vivian. We both screw people for money.” — Pretty Woman

2. When all you have is each other.

“This time, we didn’t make any wishes for the future. We said goodbye to our past. Now, none of us have any idea where life’s gonna take us, because what we have is now. And right now, we have each other.” — Crossroads

3. When you’re being romantic.

“I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you every day for a year. It wasn’t over… it still isn’t over.” — The Notebook

4. When you’re mad and bitter.

“Your wedding will be huge…like your at prom.” — Bride Wars

5. When someone frustrates you.

“Has the fact that you’re completely psycho managed to escape your attention?” — 10
