“You’re amazing, just the way you are.” -Bruno Mars

Body-shaming is a horrible reality that everyone faces over and over again in their lives. But what exactly is body-shaming?

According to Healthline, body-shaming “involves criticizing and harassing overweight people about their weight or eating habits to make them feel ashamed of themselves,” with the intent to “motivate people to eat less, exercise more, and lose weight.”

Does this criticism affect a person’s self-esteem? Well, according to Kris Gunnars, a writer for Healthline agrees that fat-shaming makes things worse.

He states, “Some believe that making overweight people feel ashamed of their weight or eating habits may motivate them to get healthier. However, scientific evidence confirms that nothing could be further from the truth.”

It’s so true. People take the wrong approach in trying to approach the topic of your weight. Family members, doctors, and complete strangers make it the hardest and they can cut you down in a split second.

Body-shaming can cause a decrease in motivation, depression, eating disorders, reduced self-esteem, stress, weight gain, mental problems, increased risk of suicide, increased cortisol (a stress hormone) levels, and it can increase your risk for certain chronic diseases.

As someone who is overweight, there is not a day that goes by that I am not reminded that I need to stop eating this, or I need to exercise, or I need to lose weight, or I need to make myself look pretty. It really does take a toll on my mental health and self-esteem. Some days I don’t want to eat because all these negative thoughts are swirling around and then there are times I feel guilty for eating something.

It’s important for me to remember that I have to eat, but body-shaming from others and myself since I was born has made me so self-conscious that it can make just the simple matter of eating a chore and something that I feel so bad about.

But, lately, I have realized that I have to love myself for who I am and what I look like. I shouldn’t be ashamed of who I am or let negativity manifest.

If you are going through these same things, remember you are not alone.

Everyone goes through these body-shaming situations, even celebrities, but what can make you stand out is if you don’t let what other people say or the devil sitting on your shoulder …

If anyone understands heartache, it’s T-Swift.

Taylor Swift knows from experience that heartbreak sucks. She’s been through a handful of break ups and they’ve taught her many lessons.

No matter how many times it happens, heartbreak never gets easier to deal with. It can feel like you’re the shell of the fun-loving, lively person you once were and leave you feeling like you’ll never be yourself again. You’ll think of the happy moments you shared, but the breakup will play on repeat in your head. You’ll cry, and while some might stuff their face with ice cream, others can’t even think about food after a breakup.

You might feel like this feeling will last forever, but know that the pain is temporary. Your broken heart will heal with time.

It can take a while to finally get over someone. Moving on is a slow process, but it is doable. Instead of thinking negatively, distract yourself with other thoughts. It’s so important to focus on self-love after a heartbreak. A broken heart can’t break YOU, remember that.

We live and we learn from each relationship we enter, but some lessons are harder to learn than others. Eventually, when the heartbreak fades, you’ll come out stronger than you’ve ever been. In the meantime, cry, grieve, lean on friends and do everything you need to do to feel better. It’s good to let it out before you let it go.

I know how you’re feeling, because I’m dealing with a broken heart as well, but we’ll ge through this together. And if Taylor Swift can get through a heartbreak and move on, so can we!

Here are 20 Taylor Swift quotes about heartbreak and break ups to remind you things will get better. That’s a promise.
