25 Confident Quotes That Prove It's Actually Good To Be Selfish Sometimes

Don’t be afraid to put yourself first.

It’s okay to selfish sometimes.

Putting yourself first is key to living a fulfilled and happy life. There is nothing better than canceling all your nights plans, lighting a candle, pigging out, and watching romantic comedies all night long.

Putting yourself first gives you the confidence you need to succeed in life – telling yourself that you are worth more than what you see in the mirror is powerful. Telling yourself every day that you are kind, smart, beautiful, and talented will give you the confidence you need to say no to things and people that drain you, and yes to the opportunities that make your stronger.

The trait “selfish” always has a bad connotation surrounding it. But, you should allow yourself to be selfish when it comes to what you want and how you plan to get it. This doesn’t mean you should knock down others to get to the top, but putting your needs before those around you will help you achieve your goals.

20 Confident Quotes About Loving Your Weird & Being Yourself, Unapologetically

It’s time to kick normal to the curb.

There’s one descriptor in life that I’m not a big fan of: when people use the word ‘normal.’ It’s not that I’m against it or something, I just think it’s a dumb word. While there are some things you could call normal, like breathing or eating (to a point), the fact is no one is normal.

What’s even the basis for ‘normal?’ Who decided that having x trait and y hobby made you the ideal model for what everyone else should be? And why should everybody be like that? I really think that the whole concept of being ‘normal’ is a bunch of garbage.

No one is normal. We’re all a little weird and we’re all a little off-kilter.

We’ve all got quirks about us and things we do that make people tilt their head at us. Maybe your favorite sandwich is peanut butter and bananas. Or the way you relax is by hang gliding. Maybe you’re favorite animal is a platypus. Okay, who can blame you on that last one? Those things are pretty cool.

No matter what it is, there’s at least one thing about every single one of you that makes you different from the rest. And you know what? THAT’S OKAY! Own that thing that makes others call you weird! Be proud of it, because that’s who you are! There are whole cities that promote weirdness (ever hear the phrase “Keep Portland Weird?”)!

Don’t ever let someone tell you to be normal. And if they do say it, ask them this- what’s so great about being normal? Do you enjoy being uniform and boring like the rest? While normal doesn’t really exist, the illusion of normal does. People have weird within them, but they’re just too afraid to show it off. It’s something that’s instilled in us as we grow up. Act like the rest, meet the status quo.

BOOOORRRRIIINNGGGGG! Seriously, who wants to do that? You’ll always be happier being true to yourself rather than being what someone wants you to be. So let that freak flag fly, and, if you’re one of those people still on the fence, or maybe you need a confidence boost, here are some weird quotes from some other weird people who agree with me.

1. I’m not the only one that thinks no one is normal.

“I think everybody’s weird. We

30 Inspirational Quotes About Confidence To Remind You That It's Always Better To Just Be Yourself

No one else is like you.

Everyone struggles with self-confidence and longs to find out who they really are but it’s not as easy as it sounds.

We have all experienced insecurities and questioned our worth from an early age. Supposedly, this kind of self-doubt ends after high school or college and you emerge a confident and unshakeable human being with no major flaws.

Not.

We face this kind of self-doubt in every stage of our lives. Finding out who you are isn’t easy in the first place, and being confident enough to just be authentically who you were meant to be at all times is almost impossible. We are constantly surrounded by the pressures of society and are left comparing ourselves to the people around us.

The simple fact of the matter is that being yourself is a lifelong struggle, although some phases of life may be harder than others. There’s no point where we just click into ourselves and become automatically confident in everything that we are. There’s no magic confidence potion, I’ve looked (although I have to confess, tequila comes as close as anything).

Being a human being is all about building the life you want and becoming who you want to be. You’ll undoubtedly make a million mistakes along the way, doubt yourself at every turn, and get lost in your own hopes for yourself but that’s OK! That’s part of being human! The most important thing is to keep chipping away at it, to keep growing and to keep trying. You’re a work in progress.

When you need a little inspiration to be unapologetically you, turn to quotes. Words from others who have gone through exactly what you have are often an easy source of motivation.

Here are 30 quotes to remind you to always be yourself!

“Never apologize for being yourself.” — Paulo Coelho

2. No one else is like you.

“Be yourself because an original is worth more than a copy.” — Unknown

3. Don’t be afraid to be different.

“It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to stand alone.” — Hans Hansen

4. You can’t compete with one-of-a-kind.

5. You’re irreplaceable.

19 Quotes About How To Deal With Judgmental People That Prove You Should Never Care About What Everyone Else Thinks

Society is so judgemental.

When I was younger, I was well known for being the quiet one in any given group. I preferred my books to the people around me, making more time to read than anything else. In fact, when I was in sixth grade, my English teacher at the time pulled me out of class to suggest I read a little less and told me my reading habits were the reason I didn’t have many friends. Ironic, right?

I’m one of those people who grew up quickly, maturing faster than my peers and blessed with the intelligence to back myself up. I was nerdy, with big plastic framed glasses. I dressed like a PTA mom at age 12 and loved musical theater more than anything. I was an easy, gawky target.

If you were to flash forward a few years and drive about 2 hours north, you’d find me a quarter away from graduating from the college of my dreams and living it up with my friends in spare seconds.

I’m explaining this because I’ve been teased, bullied, and mocked my whole life.

When I was younger, it was over the stupid little things. In some instances, I look back and laugh, almost agreeing with my bullies. Those glasses were the opposite of a fashion statement and I was totally pretentious and snobby.

I thought it would end after high school. That’s what everyone told me. Instead, outright bullying turned into whispered judgments and accusations. My ripped jeans became a neon sign that I was a “whore”, my weekends spent with my long distance boyfriend translated to me sleeping around, my occasional screwdrivers with roommates meant that I was a party animal. The first time I was drunk, my ex accused me of being an alcoholic. My willingness to speak for feminist issues signified the fact that I was actually a child hater who wanted to tear down the institution of marriage. Me choosing to go to college meant I would never settle down.

We see these judgments ALL THE TIME — and I’m sick of it.

You could probably share a similar story, one in which choices you made came back to reflect on you in a way more negative way than they were intended. It happens in seconds, and then it’s too late to fix.

Society is a judgemental place. Things are done a certain way, …

25 Self-Worth Quotes To Look Back On Every Time You Start To Doubt Yourself

You ARE worthy.

When you look in the mirror, what do you see?

Do you see someone who is strong and can overcome every obstacle standing in their way? Someone who is beautiful inside and out? Someone who is powerful beyond measure? Or… do you see someone who is not worthy of love? Someone who is not capable of succeeding? Someone who is broken?

Your answer to these questions has a lot to do with your self-worth. Self-worth is defined as having confidence in one’s abilities. This can include your ability to accomplish your dreams or to overcome any challenge.

Even on your worst days you never stop believing that you are a winner.

You are comfortable with everything that makes you, you. In turn, you expect the people in your life to recognize your value. Your confidence forces them treat you like the Goddess you are. They know that you are undeserving of anything less than greatness.

If you are the woman who knows her worth and makes no apologies for it, then you go girl! If you are the woman who doubts herself as we all do from time to time, then you still go girl! A little doubt just means there is room to prove yourself wrong.

Make the decision to actively find ways to help increase your self-worth. That is the first step. One way you can do this is by reading or reciting quotes about self-worth to remind you of how great you are. There is nothing sexier than a woman who believes in herself. She appears to be more happy, positive, successful and resilient. Strive every day to be that woman. You are amazing. You are worthy. You are loved.

If you at any point you start doubting your abilities, here are 25 self-worth quotes about self-love to build your self-esteem.

1. You are more than enough.

“You are good enough, smart enough, beautiful enough, and strong enough. Believe it and never let insecurity run your life.”  Unknown

2. Believe in yourself.

30 Boss Lady Quotes To Keep You Motivated (And A Little Sassy) So You Can Keep Your Eye On The Prize

A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink. — Gina Carey

For the longest time I struggled with the concept of being a boss.  I mean, me? A boss? At first it sounded like an unreachable goal but I soon realized everyone should strive to be the best they can be.

I think a lot of it has to do with being a woman in a society that doesn’t necessarily always favor us. For example, a man and woman can be doing the same thing but a man is the boss and a woman is just bossy.

But it’s a new year, so why go back to the old you? It’s your time to shine! You are THE boss, never forget that.

Boss people have a sense of confidence and awareness about where they stand in this world. From my work life to my romantic life, the times I didn’t identify as a boss woman I let people walk all over me.

I let people take advantage of me because I didn’t know my own worth. I thought I had to please everyone in order to fit in or have people like me.  But my purpose in this life isn’t to live it for other people, and neither is yours. Some people are offended by that.

The truth is it’s impossible to please everybody.  The most you can do is make yourself happy. You have to take ownership of your own life.  Do you. Sure, it’s intimidating, especially when you’re taught to always do things for other people, but it’s worth it.

So if you need of a little inspiration about being a boss person, check out these quotes for a little pick-me-up.

1. Being a boss means you’re ready for new adventures.

“If you’re too comfortable, it’s time to move on. Terrified of what’s next? You’re on the right track.” — Susan Fales Hill

2. It means more than one role.

“Sometimes you gotta be a beauty and a beast.” — Nicki Minaj

3. Remember that being a boss means figuring out success.

“Know that you can start late, look different, be uncertain and still succeed.” — Unknown

4. Bosses do everything at once.

“You can find me somewhere in between inspiring others, working on myself, dodging negativity, and slaying my goals.” — Unknown

5. You can do anything you set your mind
